NATO Supports the Deployment of 5,000 US Troops to Poland

JAKARTA - NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte welcomed US President Donald Trump's announcement of the deployment of 5,000 additional US troops to Poland.

Trump previously said the US government would send an additional 5,000 military personnel to Poland.

"Of course, I very much welcome yesterday's announcement," Rutte told reporters ahead of a NATO foreign ministers meeting in Sweden, reported by Sputnik, Saturday, May 23.

He added that all technical details of the deployment of the troops were being handled by the military.

Meanwhile, Polish President Karol Nawrocki thanked Trump for his decision to send an additional 5,000 troops to the country.

"I am grateful to US President Donald J. Trump for his friendship towards Poland and for the decisions whose real impact we now feel very clearly," Nawrocki said on the X platform, Thursday.

Previously, the Defense News portal reported that the US Army canceled the deployment of a unit of more than 4,000 personnel and their equipment to Poland.
