Polish President Praises Trump for Sending 5,000 Troops
JAKARTA - Polish President Karol Nawrocki thanked US President Donald Trump for his decision to send an additional 5,000 troops to Poland.
"I am grateful to US President Donald J. Trump for his friendship towards Poland and for the decisions whose practical dimensions we can now see very clearly," Nawrocki wrote, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 23.
On the same day, Trump said that the United States would send an additional 5,000 American military personnel to Poland. Currently, about 10,000 American soldiers have been stationed in Poland.
In early May, Trump announced plans to reduce 5,000 US military personnel in Germany. The announcement came after the German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, criticized the US military campaign against Iran, highlighting Washington's lack of a clear strategy.
After that, the Defense News portal reported that the US Army canceled the deployment of one unit, consisting of more than 4,000 soldiers and equipment, to Poland.
