US Dollar Breaks Rp17,700, PU Minister: Solar Limitations Impacting Public Schools
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo revealed that the impact of the weakening of the rupiah which has penetrated the Rp17,700 figure on the infrastructure sector has begun to be felt in the construction of People's Schools (SR) projects in various regions.
One of the obstacles that contractors are currently facing is the difficulty in obtaining solar fuel for the distribution of project materials.
Dody said that, until now, the impact of global turmoil on infrastructure costs has not been too significant at the PU Ministry.
However, he admitted that the SR development project requires large-scale logistics distribution so that the need for solar increases sharply.
"On average, what is needed by service providers is the availability of solar fuel. Because the transportation, right, is very, very massive for transporting steel and concrete," said Dody in a media briefing at his office, Jakarta, Friday, May 22.
Even so, Dody emphasized that the condition has not reached the stage of total scarcity.
According to him, contractors can still get solar, although the process of getting it is now more difficult than before.
"It hasn't gotten to the point of not getting solar, not yet. It's just hard to get solar," he said.
He hopes that global tensions can immediately decrease so that fuel supplies are stable again.
Not only that, Dody also touched on the government's efforts related to the implementation of B50 so that the availability of fuel oil, especially solar, can be resolved again.
According to Dody, the potential for continued impact on infrastructure projects remains.
Therefore, the Ministry of PU is currently still waiting for the detailed calculations from the Government Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP) regarding various factors that affect the cost of the project.
"We are just users, the focal point is at the LKPP. So, we convey the conditions from the service providers, then they will calculate," he concluded.
