The perpetrator of the murder of a woman in Wisma Makassar with acid drug Mefenamat was arrested.
JAKARTA - The joint police force finally revealed the case of alleged murder by arresting the perpetrator after a woman who was previously found dead in the room of the Mulia House inn, Jalan Sungai Saddang Baru, Makassar, South Sulawesi.
"The alleged perpetrator, initials EB, a private employee, was secured at his house on Jalan Kejayaan, Tamalanrea District, Makassar," said Head of the Sulsel Regional Police, AKP Wawan Suryadinata, Friday, May 22, as reported by ANTARA.
The disclosure of the case was made after an in-depth investigation involving the Resmob Unit of the Sulsel Regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit, the Jatanras Unit of the Makassar Police and the Rappocini Police.
The incident began after the police received a report of the discovery of a woman's body inside the Mulia Inn room with blood coming out of her mouth on Wednesday (20/5/2026) at around 19.00 WITA.
The joint police team together with the forensic team carried out the crime scene and collected witness statements and brought the body to Bayangkara Hospital for an autopsy. Later, the victim was found to be the initials MA (40) a housewife from Selayar Islands Regency.
From the information from the inn's management, the victim entered on May 17, 2026 with an unknown man, allegedly his lover. After the man left. For three days the victim did not leave the room, the manager was suspicious and wanted to ask if the room rental was continued or not.
"When checked through the window, the victim was found lying down and was not moving with blood in his nose and mouth," said Wawan.
From the results of the interrogation, EB admitted that he had mixed four pieces of mefenamat acid drugs that were crushed into mineral water to be drunk by the victim until he was suspected of having an overdose. The motive was jealousy after learning that the victim had a romantic relationship with another man.
"The perpetrator gave the drink when the victim woke up. The next day he went back to the hotel and saw the victim was unconscious from outside the window," he explained.
The perpetrator had searched for information on the Google search page about the effects of someone overdosing on drugs. He only found out that the victim had died when he was arrested by the police at his house.
After being secured at the Sulsel Regional Police Resmob Post, the suspect was handed over to the Rappocini Police for further investigation. The police are still investigating the case whether there is involvement of other people.
