US-Iran Negotiation Draft Leaks, Contains Plans for Hormuz Strait to Touch the UN Charter

JAKARTA - The draft proposal for peace negotiations between the United States (US) and Iran allegedly includes a series of significant commitments by both parties in reducing tensions and stabilizing the Gulf region.

This is contained in a copy of the draft proposal seen by the Al Arabiya media, quoted by AN on Friday, May 22. However, the media did not mention where the draft was obtained.

According to the media, the draft proposal outlines a joint US-Iranian pledge to abide by international law and the United Nations Charter (UN), signaling a new emphasis on diplomatic engagement and adherence to global norms.

A key component of the draft is the gradual lifting of US sanctions on Iran. Meanwhile, Iran is committed to fully complying with the provisions outlined in the draft agreement in return.

This includes guarantees of freedom of navigation across the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Sea of Oman.

Both parties also committed to respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, followed by an agreement not to interfere in each other's internal affairs.

The agreement also includes a clause prohibiting the US or Iran from attacking military, civilian, and economic infrastructure. However, the provisions regarding Iran's nuclear program are still unknown.

The agreement is expected to take effect immediately after it is officially announced by the US and Iran.
