DKI Provincial Government Sikat Jukir Liar in Blok M, 13 People Arrested to Be Built
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has disciplined illegal parking attendants (jukir) operating in the Blok M area, South Jakarta, Thursday, May 21. A total of 13 illegal jukir were secured in a joint operation held before nightfall.
The order was carried out after officers monitored illegal parking activities at a number of points for a full day. The Blok M area is often complained about by residents because of illegal parking practices that are considered to disrupt order and make road users uncomfortable.
The operation was led by the Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Service, Bernad Octavianus Pasaribu, together with elements of the regional apparatus organization (OPD) of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and joint officers.
The activity involves personnel from the South Jakarta Transportation Office, South Jakarta Parking Unit, South Jakarta Satpol PP, South Jakarta Social Office, cross-over, to TNI and Polri elements.
"This crackdown is part of a joint effort to maintain public order and provide comfort for residents," Bernard told reporters, Friday, May 22.
The crackdown took place from 16.00 to 18.00 WIB. The officers then took the wild jukirs using the Social Services vehicle to undergo training.
Bernad said the operation was carried out as a step to arrange public spaces and at the same time suppress the practice of illegal parking that continues to appear in crowded areas of South Jakarta.
"We will continue to carry out regular supervision and enforcement at vulnerable points for illegal parking," said Bernad.
According to him, enforcement is not only carried out through raids, but also through a coaching approach so that violators do not return to the streets to become wild jukirs.
Bernad added that his party prioritized a humanistic approach through coaching for violators so that they do not return to similar practices later.
