Pramono Extends LRT Line to Dukuh Atas, Jakpro Targets Integration of Transportation and Jakarta Business Areas
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has decided to extend the Jakarta LRT route from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas. President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), Iwan Takwin, said that as part of strengthening the public transportation system that is interconnected and integrated between areas.
The Manggarai and Dukuh Atas areas are considered to be an important point in the Jakarta LRT development master plan because they serve as a meeting point for various modes of transportation in Jakarta and the buffer area.
"The development of the Jakarta LRT is not only about building a new transportation line, but also an important part of the formation of the future urban mobility ecosystem of Jakarta," said Iwan in his statement, Friday, May 22.
According to him, the development of the Jakarta LRT, which has been the assignment of PT Jakpro since the beginning, was designed with an intermodal integration concept. The LRT line will later be connected to the Jakarta MRT, Transjakarta, Commuter Line KRL to the Airport Train.
Therefore, Dukuh Atas and Manggarai are considered strategic to strengthen mass transportation connectivity in the center of Jakarta.
"The main concept of this master plan is to build transportation and area integration through the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) approach. Therefore, the Jakarta LRT route is directed towards strategic nodes such as Manggarai and Dukuh Atas so that people can switch modes of transportation quickly and comfortably," said Iwan.
The extension of the line to Dukuh Atas is also part of the big plan to form an integrated transportation system in Jakarta. After the connectivity of the city center is considered complete, the development of the LRT network is said to be continued to the northern area of Jakarta.
The route will later be directed to the Jakarta International Stadium area, Ancol, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2 to Soekarno-Hatta Airport to form a Jakarta transportation loop system.
Jakpro assesses that public transportation connectivity not only impacts the mobility of residents, but also the economic growth of the area around the station.
The development of transit-based areas or Transit Oriented Development (TOD) is said to bring about new economic centers as community activity around the LRT corridor increases.
"Each station point will create a new economic revival. Increasing community activities will open up business opportunities, stimulate the local economy, and have a direct impact on the welfare of residents around the transportation corridor," said Iwan.
