Kebut Pembangunan Sekolah Rakyat di Sulsel, Waskita Karya Libatkan 3.000 Pekerja

JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk has accelerated the construction of People's Schools (SR) in South Sulawesi Province (South Sulawesi). It is known that the SR Sulsel was built in five districts, namely Tana Toraja, Sidrap, Wajo, Soppeng and Barru.

A total of 3,000 workers were involved in the project. The realization of the work has reached 62.07 percent.

Waskita Karya Operations Director II Paulus Budi Kartiko said 41 percent of the thousands of workers were local workers.

"The entire team works day and night with enthusiasm in turn, in order to maintain the development target so that it is completed on time," said Paulus in a written statement, Thursday, May 21.

The scope of the company's work includes elementary school (SD), high school (SMA), student dormitories, teacher dormitories, places of worship, multipurpose rooms and others.

"Now the work on the SR Sulsel is in the architectural stage and completion or finishing," he said.

According to Paulus, the design of the SR in South Sulawesi has five benefits, including prioritizing energy efficiency, local wisdom, safety and disaster resilience, inclusiveness, flexibility and comfort.

"Therefore, we are carrying out the concept of green building to create a healthy space for students and teachers," he said.

In addition, the company is also considering integrating technology that supports innovative educational practices. It is hoped that this step can bring more dynamic and democratic teaching and learning.

However, Paulus did not deny that the company faced challenges in accelerating the development of the SR, including the field conditions which were quite dynamic coupled with the rainy weather.

"However, we remain committed to maintaining good quality in accordance with applicable standards and specifications," he explained.

Paulus said, his party is committed to continuing to support the presence of SR as a functional, equitable, and ready-to-use educational infrastructure in the new school year.

"For us, this project is not just about doing a project, but it is part of future investment and an effort to bring the country closer to the learning space for the younger generation," he said.

Meanwhile, the owner of a coffee shop at one of the SR Sulsel locations named Irmawati (43) admitted that her income increased after the project began to be carried out. He even added more stock of his goods for sale.

"My income has increased, my busy schedule has also increased. Thank you to the project workers (SR Sulsel) who have shopped here," he said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works (PU) encourages the completion of all SR buildings to be completed by the end of June 2026.

This step is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's message that these educational facilities can be completed on time and according to schedule, but must still pay attention to quality and effectiveness in work.
