Travel Industry Shifts to Personal Tourism, Golden Rama Targets Premium Holiday Trends

JAKARTA - The global tourism industry trend is shifting from just visiting popular destinations to a more personal, exclusive, and emotional experience-based travel experience.

Golden Rama Tours & Travel took advantage of this change in tourist behavior through the Autumn Fe55tival campaign ahead of the company's 55th anniversary.

GM of Communication & CRM Golden Rama, Ricky Hilton, said tourism has now evolved into a part of lifestyle and self-fulfillment, especially in the premium tourist segment.

"Tourists are now looking for trips that provide authentic experiences, emotional connections, and memorable stories, not just destinations," he said in an official statement to VOI, Thursday, May 21.

This phenomenon is in line with global industry reports. The Intentional Traveler study from Marriott International noted that 93 percent of affluent Asian Pacific travelers want a more personal and meaningful travel experience than conventional luxury.

In addition, the trend of shoulder season travel or travel outside the peak season is also increasing.

Global tourists are starting to choose autumn because it offers a more comfortable, exclusive, and less crowded experience.

Seeing this opportunity, Golden Rama presents a curated travel package to a number of flagship destinations such as Japan, South Korea, China, Europe to Patagonia in South America.

One of the destinations that is in the spotlight is Patagonia, a premium tourist area at the southern tip of South America that is known as a bucket-list destination for world travelers.

This package offers exploration of Balmaceda Glacier, Serrano Glacier, Torres del Paine National Park to El Chaltén.

In addition to long-haul destinations, the company also noted an increase in Indonesian tourists' interest in autumn trips to Japan and South Korea, especially for culinary experiences, local culture, and autumn foliage panoramas.

Autumn Fe55tival takes place from May 5-31, 2026 with various travel discount promos ranging from IDR 5.5 million to IDR 16.5 million, including Korean travel packages, cruises, and trips to Europe.

Golden Rama assessed that the trend of experience-based and personalized tourism will continue to dominate the travel industry, especially in the premium segment and long-distance travel.
