Former Vale Boss Leads PT DSI, Rosan Collects Entrepreneurs This Afternoon
JAKARTA - The government has started to open the initial line-up of managers of PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia or DSI, a company that is prepared to handle the reporting of exports of strategic commodities such as CPO, coal, and feronikel.
Head of the Investment Management Agency or BPI Danantara Rosan Roeslani said the position of the leadership of PT DSI was temporarily filled by Luke Thomas Mahony, an Australian citizen, former director of PT Vale Indonesia.
Rosan conveyed this after a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, May 21.
"For now, Luke Thomas Mahony," said Rosan when asked about the leadership of PT DSI.
The name of the former senior executive of a large mining company emerged amid business actors' attention to the role of DSI in the national commodity export chain. The government previously stated that CPO, coal, and ferro alloy exports would be included in the reporting mechanism through the company starting June 1.
However, the plan had raised concerns among exporters. A number of palm oil and coal associations questioned the direction of the new policy and its impact on the market.
Rosan said the government was still in the stage of strengthening the team and would not announce the complete structure of PT DSI.
"Later we will show the full team. You can see what their track record is, their ability is clear," he said.
He said the team formation process was carried out with the same approach as when building Danantara.
According to Rosan, the government has also started to move to calm the unrest of business actors. On Thursday afternoon, the government invited various associations and business organizations to socialize the policy.
"The palm oil association, APBI coal, Kadin, Apindo, we all socialize at 4 o'clock," said Rosan.
This step was taken after the government received various inputs from industry players regarding the new export and commodity reporting mechanism.
Even so, Rosan has not explained when PT DSI will be officially launched. He only said the government was still listening to various inputs before the announcement was made.
"Later. We want to listen to the input first," he said.
