Idgitaf's New Album Enters Spotify's Global Debut Album Top, Accompanied by Three Drake Albums

JAKARTA - Less than a week since the release of the album "Berusaha di Bawah Hujan", Brigitta Sriulina Meliala alias Idgitaf, achieved great achievements on the music streaming platform.

In Spotify's latest report, Idgitaf's second full-length album was included in the Top Global Debut Albums - in ninth place.

"Trying Under the Rain" is juxtaposed with Drake's three new albums released at once, "Iceman", "Maid of Honour", and "Habibti".

In addition, there are other names such as Lucki with the album "Dr*gs R Bad", Jul with "Oubliez-Moi", Maluma with "Loco X Volver", Tayc with "Joya", Ikkimel with "Poppstar", and Famous Pluto with "Street Therapist".

Meanwhile, "Berusaha di Bawah Hujan" marks a new chapter in Idgitaf's musical journey. This album is a space for contemplation, after previously successfully captivating the industry with the debut album "Mengudara" in 2023.

Through the latest album, Gita - his nickname - brings a fresh surprise by injecting country music elements that are in harmony with the pop character that has always been attached to him.

Unlike previous works that have highlighted mental health issues and self-acceptance, the material in the new album is arranged like a connected story that summarizes 12 songs about growing up and the dynamics of romantic relationships.

"This album was born from the experience of falling in love that felt so new to me, to the point that I felt like words alone were not enough to explain everything. That's why I felt I had to write it through music," Gita said in a statement, Thursday, May 21.

"But behind it, there are challenges, differences, and the process of understanding each other that makes me realize that love is not just about happiness, but also about survival," he continued.

In giving birth to a new repertoire, Gita collaborated with a number of producers, including Enrico Octaviano, Lafa Pratomo, Michael Rodovan, Ricco, Rama Harto, and Luthfi Adianto.

Not only that, he also collaborated with Baskara Putra (Hindia) to duet in the song "Still There Is Light" and Dere in the track "Half the Sky".

The collaborative touch in the album also gives a thicker dimension to the message that wants to be conveyed. In the song "Masih Ada Cahaya" which is sung together with Hindia, the musical arrangement depicts a person's sincere effort to accept and understand the past of his partner.

"I want to have a song that represents me and my partner, as a man and a woman. In this song I'm like talking and calming him down, 'There is still light, even though it's hard to achieve,'" said Gita.

Meanwhile, for the song "Half the Sky" which he wrote with Dere, the focus of the narrative shifted to a collective reflection on how women's perceptions of happiness are often distorted by standards created by the social environment.

Gita said this track was like a medium to talk and reflect on themselves as fellow women who often categorize happiness from what others determine.

"This album tells a journey, a work in progress. It's not to give answers, but to be a companion on the journey. I want people to see that this album is about trying, and listeners can feel related to the various feelings in it; from happy, sad, to frustrated. Hopefully this album can also give an overview of my journey with my partner," he concluded.
