Ahead of the Hajj Summit, the DPR Hajj Team asks the pilgrims to reduce heavy activities and maintain health
JAKARTA - The 2026 Hajj Supervisory Team of the Indonesian House of Representatives appeals to Indonesian prospective pilgrims to reduce heavy activities and maintain their health condition ahead of the peak of the hajj pilgrimage in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna).
"We want to ensure that when the pilgrims are in their respective hotels, they can still maximize their worship while maintaining their health for the peak of the Hajj," said member of the DPR RI Hajj Supervisory Team (Timwas) Hidayat Nur Wahid in a statement received in Jakarta, Thursday, May 21.
Hidayat said the gathering of around 241 thousand Indonesian pilgrims in Mecca ahead of the peak of the hajj pilgrimage has the potential to cause high density, so good management of the mobility and health conditions of the pilgrims is needed.
According to him, the DPR RI Hajj Team will also ensure the readiness of the murur scheme for elderly pilgrims (elderly) and high-risk groups to ensure the safety and smoothness of worship.
In addition, Timwas will oversee the readiness of the Hajj Organizing Officers (PPIH) in listing pilgrims who follow the murur scheme and pilgrims who undergo mabit in Muzdalifah and Mina on a regular basis.
"Who will murur and who will not murur must be ensured to get proportional attention from PPIH," he said.
Hidayat also reminded the importance of the readiness of transportation services and camping facilities because both sectors are considered to be vulnerable points when millions of pilgrims move towards Armuzna.
He emphasized that transportation issues must be the main concern so that the problem of fleet delays that occurred in the previous Hajj could not be repeated.
"We want to ensure that transportation to Arafah, then to Mina, and back to Mecca is really prioritized. Don't let old cases happen, the departure of the congregation is hampered because the transportation is not on time," he said.
Apart from transportation, the DPR Hajj Team also checked the readiness of tents and facilities in Arafah and Mina which were considered important to support the smooth implementation of wukuf and throwing the jamrah.
"Tents in Arafah and Mina must be completely ready so that pilgrims can carry out this fifth pillar of Islam to the maximum and in its entirety," said Hidayat.
