Harry Styles' Team Promises Improvements After Viewers Complain of Poor View Distance on the Together, Together Tour
JAKARTA - HSHQ, the official Instagram account representing Harry Styles' team, moved quickly to respond to a wave of protests from fans regarding the poor view distance in the opening series of the "Together, Together" world tour.
This problem surfaced after the audience at the festival class complained about the grandeur of the stage design which actually blocked their view towards the 32-year-old singer.
The complaint began when the former One Direction member held two opening concerts at the Johan Cruijff Arena, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
On social media, a video clip showed the audience in the premium area having difficulty watching Harry Styles' performance due to the stage being too high and the placement of massive production equipment.
This complaint then rolled into a heated discussion - about the expectations of promoters who set sky-high ticket prices but were not accompanied by competent visual comfort.
Responding to the sharp criticism, HSHQ through an upload on Instagram Stories confirmed their commitment to immediately carry out technical renovations for the convenience of fans without neglecting safety elements.
"We have heard complaints from some fans about the obstructed view in the festival area. We want everyone in the room to have the best experience, and we are actively working on adjustments to improve visibility, while still keeping everyone's safety as a priority," wrote HSHQ, quoting the statement of the upload, Thursday, May 21.
Furthermore, HSHQ explained that the change in the structure of the front bridge was applied to the concert in Amsterdam and London. The technical team also made adjustments to the temporary barricades in the front right and left audience areas to increase the visibility of the stage.
Similar steps are sure to be adopted in the next tour destination cities by adjusting the local safety code compliance regulations.
On the other hand, a representative of Harry Styles' tour who spoke to Billboard U.K. explained that the concept of the festival area was actually designed to be barrier-free so that the audience could explore the performance from various angles. However, he did not deny that there were certain points that were missed in the initial calculations.
"The concept of this festival area is designed to give fans freedom of movement and the ability to enjoy the show from different positions, instead of being stuck in one fixed point of view," said a tour representative.
"The experience of an open and free-flowing festival area has always been an essential part of Harry's live concerts. A small portion of the stage area in certain festival positions seems to have limited visibility. These areas are being carefully reviewed and adjusted as much as possible in accordance with all safety restrictions," he added.
Despite being criticized for stage technology, the "Together, Together" tour, which promotes his fourth album, "Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally", is still considered one of the biggest music performance destinations.
After completing a series of performances in Amsterdam, Harry Styles is scheduled to set a new record with 12 performances at Wembley Stadium, London, before departing for São Paulo, Mexico City, Sydney, Melbourne, and 30 consecutive nights at Madison Square Garden, New York.
