Beware Of The Fake Corruption Eradication Commission In The Middle Of The COVID-19 Pandemic

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked the public to be alert to those who claim to be representatives of anti-graft institutions. This is because the KPK does not have representatives in any region or region.

"If there is an institution that has a similar name to the KPK that claims to be a KPK representative and acts for and on behalf of the KPK, we make sure that the agency has no cooperative relationship with the KPK," said Acting KPK spokesman for Prevention Ipi Maryati Kuding in a written statement on Tuesday. , May 12.

Thus, Ipi appealed to local governments, companies and other agencies to be more careful with parties claiming to be branches of anti-graft organizations in the regions.

If this fake KPK asks for money or extortion in any form, he asks the parties who have been harmed by this fraudster to immediately report it to the police and inform the KPK.

"In a number of cases, the National Police together with the KPK have processed acts of fraud, extortion, or other criminal acts that seem to be on behalf of the KPK," he said.

As for the public who wants to inform or report fraud or extortion from the fake KPK, they can contact the KPK via call center 198 or email 198@kpk.go.id and information@kpk.go.id.

KPK Continues to Perform Monitoring

Regarding the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ipi said that the KPK continues to carry out intensive assistance and monitoring of local governments through the Corruption Prevention Regional Coordination unit (Korwil).

"The KPK identified at least four hot spots in handling COVID-19, namely related to refocussing and reallocation of the COVID-19 budget from the APBN and APBD, procurement of goods and services, management of philanthropy and third party donations, to the implementation of social assistance (social safety nets), "said Ipi.

As a precaution, he said, the KPK has issued a number of circulars that serve as guidelines and signs that must be obeyed by executors. Together with other institutions, namely BPKP, LKPP, and APIP, the KPK will supervise these four hot spots.

To maintain transparency and accountability, the KPK further encourages related ministries / agencies and local governments to open access to data on the implementation of social assistance and provide public complaint service facilities.

"The KPK appealed to the public in the event of irregularities in the distribution of social assistance to be conveyed through official channels provided by ministries / agencies and local governments," he concluded.
