PT DSI Form, Focus on Trade Transparency and State Foreign Exchange

JAKARTA - The government has tightened supervision of natural resource export transactions (SDA). This strengthening of supervision is carried out through the establishment of PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI).

The newly formed body will be effective as of June 1, 2026. For the initial phase, the commodities managed consist of crude palm oil (CPO), coal, and ferrous alloys.

Danantara Indonesia's Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Pandu Sjahrir, said the establishment of DSI was a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's instructions which emphasized the importance of strengthening the governance of strategic commodity exports.

"Danantara Indonesia was appointed by the President to strengthen the import-export trade system by establishing PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia or DSI which will operate within the framework of SOEs effective June 1, 2026," Pandu said in a press conference, at Danantara's office, Wednesday, May 20.

According to Pandu, this new entity is prepared to strengthen the governance of the import-export of strategic commodities as well as ensure that foreign exchange from trade in natural resources can be managed more optimally for national interests.

In addition, DSI will also consolidate data and improve governance so that the efficiency of the strategic commodity trade sector can continue to increase.

Through the establishment of DSI, continued Pandu, the government wants to ensure that the economic benefits of Indonesia's natural resources can be enjoyed more domestically.

"This is one platform, multiple benefits. If the world is happy, Indonesia should be happier. This is Indonesia's resource for the world that brings the greatest prosperity for the Indonesian people," he said.

Pandu also added that all DSI operations will be carried out openly and according to procedures in order to create a better and more integrated trading mechanism.

"We will run this well and openly. Hopefully with this new mechanism we can make things much better," said Pandu.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the government targeted that on September 1, 2026, DSI could carry out all export activities of strategic natural resources commodities.

"This means that the entire export transaction process, contracts, delivery of goods, to payment is carried out entirely by Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia. And this is emphasized as of September 1, 2026," he said.

In the future, continued Airlangga, all implementation of exports of strategic natural resources commodities will be carried out through DSI.

"The next phase will be carried out for all strategic SDA communities," he said.
