China Extends Visa-Free Policy for Russian Citizens until 2027

JAKARTA - Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said China had decided to extend the visa-free policy for Russian citizens until December 31, 2027.

"To further facilitate exchanges between the Chinese and Russian peoples, China has decided to extend the visa-free policy for Russian citizens until December 31, 2027," said Guo as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 20.

It is said that Russian citizens holding ordinary foreign passports can enter China without a visa for a period of no more than 30 days for business, tourism, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends, and transit.

"China is ready to continue to work with Russia to improve the ease of reciprocal travel for citizens of both countries," Guo said.

China has introduced a 30-day visa-free program for Russian citizens with ordinary foreign passports for one year from September 15, 2025.

In December 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Chinese citizens to enter Russian territory without a visa for 30 days on a reciprocal basis until September 14, 2026.
