Pramono Threatens to Take Action against Officials Selling Free Transportation Cards

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to the findings of alleged practices of buying and selling free public transportation service cards that were widely discussed on social media.

Pramono asked for the perpetrators to be dealt with firmly, including if there was involvement of insiders in the issuance of free service cards (KLG) for public transportation managed by the DKI Provincial Government.

"I happen to follow and I ask for anyone who does it, including if there is an indication of the involvement of people, then I ask for firm action to be taken," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, May 20.

This case came to light after a social media account appeared that allegedly offered free transportation service cards to the public. A number of residents then questioned the possibility of "ordal" practices or the involvement of internal parties in the card issuance process.

Pramono emphasized that the transportation service system in Jakarta is currently run on the principle of openness, including in the regulation of free service card ownership.

"Because now this is part of the transparency for the regulation of the transportation system in Jakarta, including the card that is owned, it is carried out transparently and openly," said Pramono.

Previously, Viral on social media found evidence of the sale of Free Service Cards (KLG) intended for public transportation in Jakarta. This card should be given free of charge to certain groups of people.

This case started with the upload of a user of the Threads platform with the account @lalaputriis. In his post, the account offered a Jakcard card which was claimed to have free facilities to ride Transjakarta (TJ), MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta for a full year.

"His fans are a lot but I only have 5 cards. And it's still otw all because it has to be registered. I'll change the system first to the one who gets it," wrote the account.

A short while later, he stated that all the cards had sold out.

In fact, referring to the official rules of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the Free Service Card is only allocated for 15 specific recipient groups. Some of them include the elderly, disabled people, veterans, PAUD educators, worshipers, to TNI/Polri members who register officially through the official Transjakarta website.

Responding to this, Deputy Special Staff Coordinator for the Governor of DKI Jakarta Yustinus Prastowo said that his party along with a number of related institutions were conducting a search.

"Regarding this, we are investigating with Dishub, MRT, Transjakarta, and Bank Jakarta. If there is a violation, it will be dealt with firmly," said Prastowo.
