East Kalimantan Prosecutor Seizes Rp57.45 Billion in Transmigration Land Corruption Money

SAMARINDA - The East Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has seized state funds of Rp. 57.45 billion for alleged corruption in the utilization of transmigration land in Kutai Kartanegara Regency.

"Today we are conducting another seizure with the recovery of state finances of Rp57.45 billion as a continuation of the previous seizure in March 2026," said Assistant Special Criminal Affairs of the East Kalimantan Attorney General Gusti Hamdani in Samarinda, Wednesday, May 20, reported by ANTARA.

Gusti explained that the seizure was closely related to the alleged corruption in state revenue for the use of state-owned goods at the Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration.

According to him, the action of the illegal use of state property was allegedly carried out in the implementation of mining activities by the PT JMB Group.

The investigation of this alleged corruption case specifically highlights mining activities that are completely inconsistent with the provisions on the management rights of transmigration land.

In the form of transparency, said Gusti, the Prosecutor's Office informed the additional cash worth Rp. 57,450,000,000 was handed over directly by one of the suspects initials BPT.

Previously, the suspect with the initials BPT had also handed over the confiscated money worth Rp. 214,283,871,000 to the local high prosecutor's investigators.

This latest seizure of seizure brings the total amount of money successfully secured from one suspect to exactly Rp. 271 billion.

"All the cash in the hundreds of billions of rupiah that has been confiscated by the prosecutor's office will later be used entirely as an effort to recover state financial losses," said Hamdani.

In addition to confiscating cash, the prosecutor's investigation team has also taken legal steps to confiscate a number of other assets.

Other assets that were also confiscated to cover the state's losses included several houses, land plots, and valuable objects in the form of four-wheeled vehicles.

"Currently, the investigation process for the seven suspects in this case is still ongoing intensively to complete all the files of this transmigration land corruption case," said Hamdani.

The prosecutor's office targets this clearing process to be completed immediately so that all suspects can be immediately transferred to the prosecution stage in court.
