China Ready to Discuss Rare Earth Metal Supplies with the US
JAKARTA - The Chinese government has stated that it is ready to work with the United States to find solutions to common concerns regarding the supply of rare earth metals and related technologies.
China's Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that the two countries would jointly study measures to address the legitimate and legal interests of each party.
"Both parties will jointly study ways to address legitimate and legal common interests," the ministry said, quoted by ANTARA from Sputnik, Wednesday, May 20.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce confirmed that Chinese authorities were implementing export controls on rare earth elements in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
"China is ready to work with the United States to create favorable conditions for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries' companies and ensure the security and stability of global production and supply chains," the statement said.
Previously, the White House announced that after US President Donald Trump's visit to China, Beijing had agreed to consider Washington's concerns about the shortage of rare earth metals.
The statement said the concerns related to yttrium, scandium, neodymium, and indium.
