Shooting a Horror Film in Korea, Saputra Kori Intentionally Brings Special 'Savings' from Bali for Inner Peace

JAKARTA - Actor Saputra Kori shared a unique and thrilling experience while filming his latest horror film in South Korea, 402: Korea's Haunted Hospital.

Involved in the adaptation project of the famous film Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, Saputra admitted that he had to deal with a gripping atmosphere in a dilapidated hospital building.

Aware that the filming location has a very "heavy" and creepy energy, this man from Bali decided to bring spiritual protection. He deliberately prepared a special amulet from his birthplace in order to maintain inner peace while in the Land of Ginseng.

"Honestly, before filming, I even asked from Bali. In Bali, it is famous for having such charms, yes, back to each person's beliefs, yes. I asked my mother to make a charm to Indonesia while still in Jakarta, before leaving for Korea," said Saputra Kori when met in the Setiabudi area, South Jakarta, Tuesday, May 19.

The savings brought by Saputra turned out to be in the form of a necklace. During the shooting process, he admitted that he never took off the necklace. He wore it hidden behind the costume of the character he played so as not to interfere with the film's visuals.

"It's a necklace, but it's not visible (during filming). It's from Hindu beliefs, actually, for safety and mental comfort," he explained further.

Even though he didn't experience any mystical events directly such as possession or apparition, Saputra guarantees that the shooting location does have a very oppressive aura.

The condition of the severely damaged building, the moss-covered walls, to the broken ceramic debris, created a very real horror impression for the entire crew and cast.

For him, carrying the "grip" from Bali is very helpful for his mental to stay focused on working in the midst of an unfriendly environment.

"It's just that the vibes of the place are very scary. That's what I can guarantee, if anyone goes there, their hair will immediately stand on end. Even though there might be nothing, but it's a place that's as scary as it is," he concluded.

The film itself will feature other cast members such as Arbani Yasiz, Elang El Gibran, Lea Ciaracel and Aylena Fusil. The film is scheduled to begin airing on July 9.
