Prabowo Reveals the Reason for Coming Down Directly to Present the Fiscal Policy 2027

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto was present in person at the DPR RI Plenary Session to convey the Macro Economic Framework and Fiscal Policy Elements (KEM-PPKF) of the 2027 Budget Year, Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

The presence of the President in the agenda attracted public attention because usually the presentation of the KEM-PPKF is carried out by the Minister of Finance.

In his speech, Prabowo revealed that he deliberately conveyed the direction of the government's economic and fiscal policies directly as an initial step in preparing the 2027 State Budget.

"I deliberately asked for time to stand in front of you to convey directly the direction of our country's economic and fiscal policies as a preliminary discussion in the preparation of the draft state budget (APBN) for 2027," he said.

He assessed that the current geopolitical and geoeconomic situation in the world is in a state of uncertainty due to various international conflicts, ranging from wars in Europe to tensions in the Middle East.

According to him, even though it happened far from Indonesia, the impact of the conflict still affects the national economic condition.

However, Prabowo said that Indonesia as a nation must be ready to face increasingly complex global challenges, both in terms of politics and international economics.

"Therefore, because of the conditions we are facing like this, I think that the President of the Republic of Indonesia must be present to directly convey the main points of the economy and state management," he said.

In addition to discussing the direction of the national economy, the President also reiterated the constitutional mandate which is his responsibility as the head of state.

He stated that he had an obligation to protect all Indonesian people, improve the welfare of the community, educate the nation's life, and maintain Indonesia's role in creating world peace and order.
