Amran Fired ASN Ministry of Agriculture Related to Alleged Misappropriation of Rp500 Million Funds

JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman fired a state civil servant (ASN) in the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) who was suspected of embezzling nearly Rp500 million in budget.

The person with the initials C is now on the wanted list (DPO) and is being hunted by the police. Amran said that the dismissal letter for the person concerned had been issued since the beginning of May 2026.

Furthermore, Amran said that this step was taken as part of the Ministry of Agriculture's internal cleaning efforts as well as law enforcement against the misuse of state funds.

"We just signed his dismissal on May 7, 2026, we stopped the initials C, now DPO," Amran told reporters at his residence, South Jakarta, Tuesday, May 19.

According to Amran, the alleged embezzlement committed by C has been identified. Although he has not detailed the modus operandi used, he hopes that law enforcement officers will immediately arrest the person concerned and investigate the possibility of the involvement of other parties.

"If he took the money, it has been found, but hopefully he will be arrested and point out again who his friends are in Agriculture and outside," he said.

Amran also emphasized that there was no tolerance for anyone who played with state money. He admitted that he had pocketed 76 suspects in cases in the Ministry of Agriculture.

"Law enforcement in the agricultural sector when there is playing around. Alhamdulillah we have also done it, there are already 76 suspects, and what is interesting is also equally important is to fight the mafia," said Amran.

Amran said the Ministry of Agriculture's budget was state money that must be accounted for. Moreover, the source comes from the people.

"This is our people's money. The city is right to be slandered, especially if we are not right," he said.

In addition to cases involving ASN Kementan, Amran also revealed that there were individuals who promised projects to other parties in the scope of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Promise Projects at the Ministry of Agriculture

Amran said there were two people involved in this case. One of them admitted that he was part of the Ministry of Agriculture. The person demanded money worth Rp. 300 million from others with the promise of project guarantees.

"Maybe this is also categorized as mafia because he represents the Ministry of Agriculture asking for money from people, one of whom was found to be Rp. 300 million. The name that received it was the initials of H, who gave it to R, and promised a project in Agriculture," he said.

Amran said that the two people were not employees of the Ministry of Agriculture. However, one of the individuals claimed to have connections to facilitate projects related to the Ministry of Agriculture.

"He is private, he thinks that he has a backing in Agriculture, has a network in Agriculture that can win projects. It turns out that it did not happen," he said.

Amran also emphasized that no one was able to guarantee the provision of the Ministry of Agriculture project to other parties.

Because, the Ministry of Agriculture uses the online single submission e-catalog system for the procurement of goods and services.

Amran ensured that he would fire his employees if they were caught engaging in this practice. Moreover, if it caused losses to the state.

"Because in Agriculture, if we find it, I will make sure that his position ends. So it is not able to penetrate, maybe it used to play around, but we have found two or three that no one has penetrated promising projects that he has a special network to the Ministry of Agriculture," he said.

In fact, Amran admitted that he was often approached by businessmen who asked to be passed in the procurement of goods and services in the environment of the Ministry of Agriculture. However, he rejected the request.

"I said please enter the system, if you win it means you are the best," he said.
