Purbaya: April 2026 State Budget Deficit Reaches IDR 164.4 Trillion
JAKARTA - Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, revealed that the state budget deficit until April 2026 reached IDR 164.4 trillion or equivalent to 0.64 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
This deficit occurs because state revenues are still lower than total government spending.
However, the deficit position shows improvement compared to March 2026 which was previously at the level of 0.93 percent of GDP.
Until April 2026, state revenues were recorded at Rp918.4 trillion or around 29.1 percent of the state budget target of Rp3,153.6 trillion.
Meanwhile, on an annual basis (year on year/yoy), the figure experienced growth of 13.3 percent.
"This is definitely better than last year when we were in a mess," he said at the APBN KiTA press conference, Tuesday, May 19.
On the other hand, the realization of state spending reached Rp. 1,082.8 trillion or 28.2 percent of the state budget target. This value also increased by 34.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
Purbaya emphasized that the declining deficit rate is a positive signal for the national fiscal condition.
"With this dynamic, the state budget deficit was recorded at Rp. 164.4 trillion or 0.64 percent of GDP," he said.
In addition, the primary balance recorded a surplus of Rp28 trillion, an increase of 83.9 percent year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the realization of budget financing reached Rp. 298.5 trillion or around 43.3 percent of the target that has been set.
