President Buys Limousin Cross Cows 859 Kilograms for Sacrifice in Ternate
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto bought a 859 kilogram Limousin Cross cow from a local farmer for a donation to the people of Ternate City, North Maluku, ahead of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah.
The owner of the Omah Ternak, Subaim Sugeng, said the cow named Kamandanu had been kept for almost three years before it was finally bought as a sacrificial animal for the President's assistance.
"We intensively care for the seedlings since they were brought from North Halmahera Regency. The daily feed is in the form of sentrat, cassava waste, and silage from corn stalks mixed with EM4," he said without being willing to reveal the price.
According to Sugeng, in addition to maintaining a diet, his party also routinely cleans the barn and conducts health checks to ensure that the cows remain in good condition until the Eid al-Adha.
He admitted that he was proud because the cows from the local North Maluku livestock were trusted to be the President's sacrificial animals for the people of Ternate City.
"This is a special pride for us local farmers. We didn't expect that the cows that were cared for for years would eventually be chosen as presidential assistance," he said.
The plan is that the President's assistance cattle will be slaughtered at the Al-Munawwar Mosque according to the instructions of the Ternate City Government.
The central government is known to distribute one cow each for the President's assistance for 11 regencies/cities in North Maluku Province as part of a community assistance program ahead of Eid al-Adha 2026.
In addition to Ternate City, President Prabowo also distributed one sacrificial cow to Morotai Island Regency. The cow weighing 800 kilograms was brought from North Halmahera Regency because there were no cows of similar size in Morotai.
Head of the Morotai Island Agriculture Office Tamhid Bilo said the President's assistance cows were scheduled to be sent to Morotai two days before Eid al-Adha.
"H-2 is only distributed from Tobelo to Morotai Regency. Because in Morotai there are no cows with that weight, so they have to be taken from Tobelo," he said.
He added that the President's sacrificial cow assistance for Morotai this year weighed 800 kilograms, slightly smaller than the previous year's assistance which reached around 850 kilograms.
