Idgitaf Collaborates with Hindia to Dere in the Album Berusaha di Bawah Hujan
JAKARTA - Brigitta Sriulina Meliala, better known by the stage name Idgitaf, marks a new chapter in her musical journey by launching her second full-length album titled "Trying Under the Rain".
This album is a space for contemplation for Gita - his nickname - after previously successfully captivating the industry with the debut album "Mengudara" in 2023.
Through the latest studio album, Gita brings a fresh surprise by injecting country music elements that are in harmony with the pop character that has always been attached to him.
The exploration of new colors can be felt clearly through several numbers such as "Sedia Aku Sebelum Hujan" and "Mungkin di Depan Buram".
Unlike previous works that have highlighted mental health issues and self-acceptance, the material in the new album is arranged like a connected story that summarizes 12 songs about growing up and the dynamics of romantic relationships.
"This album was born from the experience of falling in love that felt so new to me, to the point that I felt like words alone were not enough to explain everything. That's why I felt I had to write it through music," Gita said in a statement, Tuesday, May 19.
"But behind it, there are challenges, differences, and the process of understanding each other that makes me realize that love is not just about happiness, but also about survival," he continued.
The album's recording process took quite a long time, from February 2025 to April this year. In giving birth to a new repertoire, Gita collaborated with a number of producers, including Enrico Octaviano, Lafa Pratomo, Michael Rodovan, Ricco, Rama Harto, and Luthfi Adianto.
Not only that, he also collaborated with Baskara Putra (Hindia) to duet in the song "Still There Is Light" and Dere in the track "Half the Sky".
Gita added that this album was deliberately designed to resemble a journey divided into four different emotional phases. The phase begins with the moment of finding love that is healing, feeling overflowing happiness, facing conflicts and doubts, until finally arriving at the point of acceptance to survive together through all the challenges of life which is likened to rain.
The collaborative touch in the album also gives a thicker dimension to the message that wants to be conveyed. In the song "Masih Ada Cahaya" which is sung together with Hindia, the musical arrangement depicts a person's sincere effort to accept and understand the past of his partner.
"I want to have a song that represents me and my partner, as a man and a woman. In this song I'm like talking and calming him down, 'There is still light, even though it's hard to achieve,'" said Gita.
Meanwhile, for the song "Half the Sky" which he wrote with Dere, the focus of the narrative shifted to a collective reflection on how women's perceptions of happiness are often distorted by standards created by the social environment.
Gita said this track was like a medium to talk and reflect on themselves as fellow women who often categorize happiness from what others determine.
He emphasized that "Trying Under the Rain" was not created to dictate or provide an absolute conclusion to an amorous problem, but rather as a process of work that continues to grow organically.
"This album tells a journey, a work in progress. It's not to give answers, but to be a companion on the journey. I want people to see that this album is about trying, and listeners can feel related to the various feelings in it; from happy, sad, to frustrated. Hopefully this album can also give an overview of my journey with my partner," he concluded.
