Police Become Predators, Three People in NTB Caught in Child Abuse Case
MATARAM - The police institution in the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) region is being shaken by sharp scrutiny. Instead of being a guardian and protector of the community, a number of uniformed brown officers in this area are dragged into the vortex of the alleged sexual violence case against minors.
This sad phenomenon was revealed by a legal observer and Chairman of the Mataram Child Protection Agency (LPA), Joko Jumadi. Based on the assistance he provided, currently there are three cases of immorality involving police officers and prospective students (casis) of the National Police which are spread across a number of police stations in the NTB Police.
Joko revealed that the first case involved an unnamed member of the NTB Police Brimob. The case involving the victim, a high school student from West Lombok Regency, is being handled seriously by the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Mataram Police Criminal Investigation Unit.
"The report in the Mataram Police came from the victim's family, then the police followed up by asking for the LPA's help for a psychological examination of the victim," said Joko Jumadi when confirmed in Mataram, Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
From the results of the psychological examination of the victim, the lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Mataram University, found that the Brimob member was suspected of having had intercourse with the victim. This depraved act was even strengthened by evidence of a video recording taken last year.
This NTB Sexual Violence Coalition activist emphasized that, according to legal regulations, there is no room for compromise for perpetrators of sexual violence against children. Indonesian law absolutely prohibits sexual activity with minors, regardless of whether there is an element of coercion.
"If the victim is a child, there does not need to be a threat. This means that anyone who has sexual intercourse with a child can be sentenced," said Joko.
Fortunately, the police investigators showed a quick response. Joko appreciated that the handling of this Brimob case had been raised to the investigation stage, and was just waiting for the exposure of the determination of the suspect.
IT Officer of the Police and the Marriage Modus Scandal
The moral corruption of the police did not stop there. The second case revealed by Joko is now rolling at the Directorate of Women and Child Protection and Anti-Human Trafficking (Ditres PPA-PPO) of the NTB Police. The alleged perpetrator is a police officer who serves in the IT field.
Initially, the victim's family had asked the Mataram LPA for help to mediate the case. The police officer finally agreed to marry the victim as a form of responsibility. However, in the middle of the process leading to the wedding, the officer was caught cheating, making the victim angry and canceling the wedding plans.
Instant karma seems to have hit the IT immediately. Shortly after the cancellation of the marriage, he was officially reported to the NTB Police for alleged rape and a new Sexual Violence Crime (TPKS). This time the victim is a student.
"The threat is verbal. It happened in the Ampenan area, in the hostels. The report was officially received on February 23, 2026," said Joko, dissecting the chronology of the second case.
Police Carts Spread Vulgar Photos of Former
Meanwhile, the third case emerged in the jurisdiction of the Central Lombok Police. Ironically, the perpetrator is a young man who has the status of a Candidate Student (Casis) of the National Police, while the victim is again a student.
The modus operandi used by the perpetrator is considered classic but cruel. Because of the emotions and not being accepted by the victim, the police officer spread the vulgar photos of his ex-girlfriend to social media.
"The pattern is because he did not accept being broken up, then spread his ex-girlfriend's vulgar photos, photos of the upper half of the body. This case is related to alleged violations of ITE and pornography," said Joko.
The series of cases that ensnared the Bhayangkara corps in NTB is expected to be a hard blow and a total evaluation material for the internal Polri in training and nurturing its personnel. Joko emphasized that his party, together with the NTB Anti Sexual Violence Coalition, would continue to monitor the completion of the law of these three cases for the sake of justice for child victims.
"Yes, the police should be the one who protects and protects, why are they the perpetrators," concluded Joko regretfully.
