Perpetrators Of Persecution Of Indonesian Navy Soldiers Arrested At The Jombang Islamic Boarding School

JAKARTA - Police officers from the Sidoarjo Resort, East Java, arrested two people on the wanted list (DPO) suspected of being the perpetrators of the persecution of a member of the Indonesian Navy.

Sidoarjo East Java Police Chief Commissioner Sumardji said that with the arrest of the two DPOs, a total of six perpetrators were arrested.

"Because previously we arrested four perpetrators," said Sumardji during a media meeting at the Sidoarjo Police Headquarters, reported by Antara, Tuesday, June 8.

He said the two people who were arrested had the initials NM and RA, who were arrested in two different locations.

"NM was arrested while on the run in one of the Islamic boarding schools in Jombang and the other was arrested in Madura," he said.

He explained that initially it was suspected that there were more than ten perpetrators of the persecution, but after the development it was reduced to six names.

Previously, the police had arrested four suspects, namely UN, FC, MR and also YM in the Bungurasih area of Sidoarjo.

"The perpetrator abused a TNI soldier until he was battered and had time to get treatment at the hospital," he said.

For this incident, he said, the suspects were threatened with Article 170 paragraph (1) to 2 of the Criminal Code and or Article 351 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

"The six suspects are threatened with nine years in prison," said Sumardji.

Previously, a member of the Indonesian Navy with the initials JYZ was found lying covered with wounds at the exit of the Purabaya Bungurasih Bus Terminal, Medaeng, Waru, Sunday, May 23 at around 03.30 WIB due to being beaten by dozens of youths.

Residents reported the incident to the Waru Police. The Sidoarjo Police together with the Indonesian Navy moved quickly to uncover the abuse case.
