Riots at Lukas Enembe Stadium, 15 People Officially Become Suspects

JAYAPURA - Investigators from the Jayapura Police Criminal Investigation Unit have named 15 people as suspects in the riot case that occurred at the Lukas Enembe Stadium (Lukmen), Kampung Harapan, Jayapura Regency.

The riots occurred after the Persipura match against Adhyaksa FC which ended with a score of 0-1 on Friday (8/5/2026). Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Pol Cahyo Sukarnito, said the determination of the suspects was carried out after the police had previously secured 41 people after the riots.

"15 people were named as suspects, after 41 people were arrested before the riots after Persipura lost to Adhyaksa FC 0-1," he said in Jayapura, Monday, May 18.

The 15 suspects each have initials SW, FVB, OJW, RW, EKW, ISO, AM, SPM, MSW, JMR, SEK, ABM, EW, AM, and TB. Meanwhile, the other 21 people who were previously secured have been repatriated. However, they are still required to report by investigators.

"For the 21 people who were previously arrested, they have now been sent home, but they are required to report," he said.

In handling the case, the Jayapura Police have also received 74 police reports from the public. The report is related to various criminal acts that occurred during the riots, ranging from motor vehicle theft, ordinary theft, beating, vandalism, to persecution.

In addition, the police also confiscated 35 units of motorcycles as evidence. "We appeal to the public who feel that they have lost their vehicles to come to the Jayapura Police to see if there are vehicles belonging to them. If there are, please bring the vehicle documents before being brought back," said Cahyo.
