The action of the thief who jumped on the truck made the distribution of logistics slow down.

JAKARTA - Following the rampant theft of truck trailer batteries in the Tanjung Priok Port area, North Jakarta, the supply of natural logistics distribution was disrupted because many trucks were broken down on the road. This was conveyed by the Tanjung Priok Port Police Criminal Investigation Unit on Monday, May 18, 2026, evening.

"This incident is a common concern, because with their modus operandi they are very dangerous. The loss is not only material, but there is the potential for other losses," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Tanjung Priok Port Police, AKP A. A Ngurah Made Pandu Prabawa to reporters, Monday, May 18, 2026, evening.

Apart from material losses, the impact of other losses is that the supply of logistics distribution will experience disruptions due to battery theft which causes trucks to break down on the road.

"When I realized that there was no longer a vehicle, the vehicle could not be turned on. So the logistics distribution process was hampered," he said.

AKP Pandu appealed to truck drivers, vehicle owners, and logistics entrepreneurs to increase their vigilance regarding the theft of truck batteries.

"Don't let the impact be widespread. We in the Tanjung Priok Port Police area, the continuation of the logistics distribution process is very important," he said.

The police also asked for support from the community to be able to eradicate this street crime practice which can harm the wider community.

"We need the help and support of the community. If you have information about the incident, please contact 110," he said.

In addition, the modus operandi carried out by the perpetrator is also very dangerous for other motorists who pass by and other residents.

"For example, when the vehicle is running and the battery is thrown away, it can endanger others. This is a theft modus operandi similar to the old modus operandi or jumping thief. It is very dangerous," he said.

Previously reported, the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Tanjung Priok Port Police managed to roll up a syndicate of specialists in stealing truck trailer batteries that often acted in the Tanjung Priok Port area, North Jakarta.
