Commission III of the DPR asks investigators to stop Erin's report to former ART

JAKARTA - Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) harshly criticized the legal reversal attempt made by Rien Wartia Trigina alias Erin Anthony against his former ART, Herawati. Erin is known to have reported Herawati regarding the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law).

The head of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, emphasized that the use of the PDP Law in this case was unfounded. He assessed that this step was a form of criminalization of citizens who are legally weak.

"The use of the PDP Law in cases like this is certainly not appropriate. Because what is meant by personal data is not about photos like that, but security such as ID cards, accounts, and others. We want to make sure that the law is not just a tool to imprison people," said Habiburokhman quoted by VOI from the YouTube of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Monday, May 18.

Disappointment also came from Commission III member Safaruddin. He assured that the report back from the employer would not be able to process Herawati's law who was a victim of violence.

"Calm down. If you report, I think it's not included (PDP). What can be processed criminally is your report. We in Commission III will provide assurances so that you are calm," said the retired police general.

Commission III also issued a meeting conclusion asking the South Jakarta Police Chief to stop the criminal report process aimed at Herawati. The DPR asked the police to prioritize the rights of victims.

"Commission III asks the Jaksel Police Chief not to process a criminal report to Herawati because the person concerned is a victim protected by law under Article 10 of Law 31/2014," the point of the conclusion of the meeting read.

For information, Erin reported back to Herawati with the accusation of defamation and violation of the Personal Data Protection Law for distributing photos of evidence of violence suffered by Herawati.
