Observing The Existence Of Children In The Whirl Of Crime
JAKARTA - The theft of cellphones has been widely discussed on social media recently. Because, this theft involves a small child as the executor.
In the circulating video footage, a man with a boy on a motorbike appears. Then, the two of them entered a place like a food stall.
Then this man seemed to distract him by inviting the stall employees to talk. Next, the man gestured to the boy to pick up the cellphone.
The boy walked into the inside of the shop and picked up several cellphones that were lying on the table. Then, the boy immediately walked out of the shop and was followed by his partner.
The police are already investigating the case. Based on information, the incident occurred at a rice shop located on Jalan Kalibaru Timur, Senen, Central Jakarta.
Senen police chief, Kompol Ewo Samono said, in that case no party had yet reported being a victim of theft. However, this case will still be investigated and arrested the perpetrators.
"Nobody has reported it yet but we are still investigating. So far we are still investigating," said Ewo in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 12.
The involvement of a child or small child in crime is a new mode. They sometimes act as a distraction to the crime executioner.
An observer of criminal law at Al Azhar University Suparji Ahmad said that criminal acts involving children aim to reduce suspicion and increase the percentage of success when acting.
In addition, involving children can also be an excuse when the action fails. The evil masters will pretend to protect them from the anger of the citizens or vice versa.
"It can be intended to take refuge in children with the aim that the criminals are not punished on the grounds of saving the child," said Suparji when contacted by VOI.
The involvement of children in criminal acts is not without reason. According to Suparji, the children involved usually live in harsh environments. So, they are trained to do things that violate the rules.
However, there is another possibility. Children who are involved in crimes may also be under pressure. In this case, the children are not always involved in the theft.
"Yes, there are both possibilities but more (because) are in that environment," said Suparji.
Then, in handling the law against children, it cannot be arbitrary. Criminal law is not the right step for them. Preferably, children who are involved in crimes must undergo coaching to be able to live better.
"For children, restorative justice can be carried out. Coaching is carried out in accordance with the concept of diversion in the Child Protection Law," concluded Suparji.
