Successfully Lost 10 Kg, Vicky Shu Shares Her Weight Loss Journey

JAKARTA - The change in the appearance of singer and public figure Vicky Shu has recently become the public's attention. Many netizens judge that her weight loss happened so fast that there were speculations that she had undergone gastric bypass surgery.

However, Vicky emphasized that the transformation was carried out through a weight management program accompanied by a healthier lifestyle and medical assistance.

The singer of Mari Bercinta 2 admitted that he had experienced similar pressure after giving birth to his second child. In the midst of being busy working and taking care of his family, he tried to maintain his physical and mental health.

"Through this program, I get supervision from a team of doctors for 30 days, given a meal plan that suits my body's needs, and get GLP-1 therapy, so my appetite is more controlled and I'm not hungry anymore," said Vicky Shu in a press statement. Halofit to VOI, Monday, May 18.

The weight loss program he was undergoing was fortunately accessible online, so it made it easier for Vicky to carry out daily activities such as working and taking care of his family.

In addition to participating in the medical mentoring program, Vicky also began to get used to walking every day and improving the pattern of daily food consumption. So far, he has been able to prove that his weight has dropped 10 kilograms in 8 weeks.

"This journey of transformation taught me that we don't have to meet other people's beauty standards, because the real goal is not just losing weight, but having a healthy body, and eventually it can have an impact on a healthy mind," said Vicky Shu.

In addition, the phenomenon of obesity itself is still a health challenge in Indonesia. Excess weight is not only influenced by eating patterns and physical activity, but is also related to hormonal factors, genetics, and body metabolism.

Therefore, the approach to handling it is considered to be adjusted to the conditions of each individual. Based on the Ministry of Health's Free Health Check (CKG) data until the end of 2025, one in three Indonesians suffers from central obesity or fat accumulation in the abdominal area which is at risk of triggering metabolic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.

On the other hand, the 2022 ACTION APAC study found that there are still few individuals with obesity who consult directly with health workers regarding their weight management.

VP Consultation & Diagnostics Halodoc, Ignasius Hasim, said that the approach to treating obesity should not only focus on reducing the scale numbers alone.

"For Halodoc, overcoming obesity is not just about lowering the numbers on the scales, but helping people build awareness and sustainable healthy living habits,"

"Our data in 2024 shows that before Halofit was launched, about 75% of Halodoc's nutritional patients had sought support for weight management, but most of them still focused on regulating diet and lifestyle education," said Ignasius Hasim.

Current medically based weight management programs generally include doctor consultations, dietary adjustments, nutritionist support, to certain therapies tailored to patient conditions. One of the therapies that is beginning to be known is GLP-1, which works to help control hunger and blood sugar levels.

However, this therapy still requires medical supervision and is not recommended as an instant solution to lose weight.
