Xiaomi YU7 GT Ready to Launch with Top Speed 300 Km/Hour and 705 Km Travel Distance

JAKARTA - Xiaomi officially announced the launch of its latest performance SUV, Xiaomi YU7 GT, which is scheduled to take place on May 21 at 19.00 China time. YU7 GT has previously been shown through a number of official images featuring the new Crimson Red color as well as vehicle settings for the Nürburgring.

This vehicle display unit is also starting to appear at a number of dealers in various regions of China. According to Xiaomi Auto, the YU7 GT is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. The front motor produces 288 kW of power, while the rear motor is capable of producing 450 kW.

Combined, this electric SUV is claimed to have up to 990 hp with a maximum speed of 300 km/h. In addition to high performance, the SUV also offers pure electric cruising range of up to 705 km based on CLTC standards.

In terms of design, the YU7 GT still carries the Xiaomi family design language which was previously introduced through the SU7 sedan. The front comes with a typical "water drop" shaped headlights complete with a hollow internal structure. Xiaomi also attaches a large front splitter, a more aggressive rear diffuser, large brake calipers, and exterior details specific to the GT variant.

On the back, several design elements of the SU7 are still maintained, such as the ducktail spoiler and halo-style taillights. The difference is, the YU7 GT gets a larger-sized blade-shaped rear diffuser and a GT emblem to emphasize its performance character.

The side profile of this SUV is designed with an aerodynamic focus, visible from the shape of the body which is made smoother, the use of frameless rearview mirrors, to the flat model electric door handles. Xiaomi says the YU7 GT has 10 air flow aerodynamic channels and 19 integrated air vents.

Launching from Carnewschina, Monday, May 18, Xiaomi describes the YU7 GT as a "true GT", which is positioned as a driver-oriented SUV with high performance capabilities as well as being comfortable for long-distance travel.

Meanwhile, regulatory documents that emerged earlier this year indicate that Xiaomi is also likely to be preparing a more affordable YU7 variant. The model is said to come with different specifications and wheel options, and is expected to be introduced simultaneously with the YU7 GT on May 21.

Based on data from China EV DataTracker, Xiaomi Auto's domestic sales reached 36,702 units throughout April 2026. This figure increased by 28.4 percent compared to the same period last year and provided a market share of new energy vehicles (NEVs) for passenger vehicles of 2.6 percent in that month.
