Muslims in Malaysia Celebrate Eid al-Adha May 27, 2026
JAKARTA - Muslims in Malaysia will celebrate Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah on May 27, 2026, according to the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Conference of Kings, Muhammad Affendi Jalaludin.
In an announcement broadcast on local Malaysian television, Sunday evening, Affendi also stated that the date of 1 Zulhijah 1447 Hijriah will fall on Monday (18/5/2026).
"According to the order of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and with the consent of His Majesty the rulers, I, on behalf of the Keeper of the Seal of the Rulers, hereby declare that the date of 1 Zulhijah 1447 Hijriah falls on May 18, 2026," said Affendi.
"Therefore, Eid al-Adha, which falls on 10 Zulhijjah, for all Muslim countries in Malaysia is set on Wednesday, May 27, 2026," he said.
The date of the celebration of Eid al-Adha in Malaysia is the same as that set by the Indonesian government.
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia through the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) RI announced that 1 Zulhijah 1447 Hijriah/2026 Masehi fell on Monday, May 18, 2026, so that Eid al-Adha fell on Wednesday, May 27, 2026
"Based on the results of the calculation and the hilal report, it was agreed that 1 Zulhijah 1447 Hijri fell on Monday, May 18, 2026, so that the Eid al-Adha fell on Wednesday, May 27, 2026," said Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar when delivering the results of the Isbat Meeting in Jakarta, Sunday.
The decision was obtained after the results of the moon sighting (rukyatul) which was carried out from 88 different locations in Indonesia.
From the results of monitoring, the crescent has exceeded the criteria set by the Ministers of Religion of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore (MABIMS) regarding the new Hijri moon, which requires a crescent height of 3 degrees and an elongation of 6.4 degrees.
