Prabowo Says Danantara is in the Top Six in the World

NGANJUK - President Prabowo Subianto claims that Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund or sovereign wealth fund is now one of the largest in the world. The statement was made when he inaugurated 1,061 Red and White Village/Subdistrict Cooperatives in Nganjuk, East Java, Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Prabowo said Indonesia now has assets under management of up to US$1,000 billion through Danantara.

"The assets we manage now are 1,000 billion dollars," said Prabowo.

According to him, this figure makes Indonesia enter the top six sovereign wealth funds in the world even though it was only formed in 2025.

"We are above Qatar, above Saudi Arabia, and also above Singapore," he said.

Prabowo compared Danantara with a number of world sovereign wealth funds such as the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, China Investment Corporation, to the Norway Sovereign Wealth Fund.

He assessed that the achievement showed that Indonesia was beginning to have a strong economic foundation.

"This could also be our country," he said.

Prabowo said the sovereign fund would be used to build basic programs such as village cooperatives, industrial downstreaming, people's schools, and Free Nutritious Meals.

He also said the government was expanding cheap credit for small people through cooperatives.

In his speech, Prabowo revealed that the interest rate on ultra-micro loans, which previously reached 22 to 24 percent, was now being suppressed to around 8 percent.

"Big businessmen can get 9 percent. Mothers in the village can get 24 percent. We will change," he said.

According to Prabowo, Indonesia's economic strength should not only be enjoyed by large corporations. Therefore, cooperatives and MSMEs must also be strengthened.

"Cooperatives must be strong, MSMEs must be strong," he said.
