From Marsinah's Struggle, President Prabowo Subianto Emphasizes the Spirit of Social Justice

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the Indonesian nation was founded on the basic philosophy of Pancasila. The spirit of kinship in Pancasila, according to the President, is the main basis for the state to protect the little people including workers.

"In fact, the Marsinah incident, which was brutally killed for fighting for factory workers of a company, actually did not need to happen at all, because our country, we founded with the basic philosophy of Pancasila," said the President in his speech at the inauguration of the Marsinah Mother Museum and the Singgah House in Nglundo Village, Sukomoro District, Nganjuk Regency, East Java, on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The President explained that the founders of the nation had laid the foundation of a state that united Indonesia in the midst of diversity of ethnicity, religion, language, and race. According to the President, the principle of social justice and the mandate of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution emphasize that the Indonesian economy is built on the basis of kinship, where the strong help the weak.

"Workers are the children of the nation. Farmers, farmers are the children of the nation. Fishermen are the children of the nation. All of them, leaders, politicians, bureaucrats are only officers, only mandate recipients, only those who are entrusted to dream of everything," he said.

During the inauguration, the President also saw the condition of Marsinah's room, which was maintained as it was, as a reminder of her struggle and sacrifice. "I see her struggle and I am concerned about her story. That there is a leader, there is a leader of an entrepreneur who has evil thoughts for great profit. This is not in line with the foundation of the establishment of our Republic," said the President.

For this reason, the President also invited all business actors to build the spirit of "Indonesia Incorporated". From this perspective, all Indonesian people are shareholders of the nation's wealth, and the state must ensure that this wealth is enjoyed by all people fairly.

"Not the opposite. Not leaders, not officials, not those who are elected but collude to eliminate the people's right to the wealth of all of Indonesia. This is our common struggle," he said.

"So we are open. Come on, together. This is our common struggle and this is the symbol of Ibu Marsinah," he concluded.
