Stepanus Robin 'Case Broker' Corrects His Statement, Including Denies Accepting Money From Azis Syamsuddin
JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Stepanus Robin Pattuju, who is a suspect in receiving bribes from the Mayor of Tanjung Balai, M Syahrial, corrected his statement. Including, a statement that said he received money reaching Rp3.15 billion from Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Azis Syamsuddin.
"No, no. I have changed it, nothing. I have corrected everything," said Stepanus after being questioned at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 8.
The allegation of giving the money was revealed during a session held by the KPK Supervisory Board some time ago. In the trial, Azis is said to have given billions of rupiah in connection with the Central Lampung case to monitor a witness named Aliza Gunado.
Returning to Stepanus, he said, this money was received with a lawyer, Maskur Husain, who is also a suspect in receiving bribes.
"Essentially, this is what I did with Maskur. We will be responsible for our actions and no one else," he said.
The KPK has named Stepanus Robin Pattuju who is a KPK investigator, a lawyer named Maskur Husain, and the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M. Syahrial as suspects in the alleged bribery case handling the case of buying and selling positions in the Tanjungbalai City Government.
In addition, in this case the name of the Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Azis Syamsuddin, also appeared. He is said to have introduced Stepanus and M Syahrial at his official residence. He allegedly knew Stepanus from his aides who were both from the Bhayangkara Corps.
Stepanus Robin Pattuju and Maskur Husain are suspected of having received bribes from M. Syahrial of Rp. 1.3 billion from an agreement of Rp. 1.5 billion. The bribe was given so that Stepanus would help stop the investigation into the alleged sale and purchase of positions in Tanjungbalai, which the KPK is currently investigating.
In addition to bribes from Syahrial, Maskur Husain is also suspected of receiving Rp 200 million from other parties. Meanwhile, Stepanus from October 2020 to April 2021 was also suspected of receiving money from other parties through bank account transfers in the name of Riefka Amalia, amounting to Rp438 million.
As previously reported, the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) decided to dismiss its investigator from the police, Stepanus Robin Pattuju, with disrespect.
He is a suspect in receiving bribes from the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial to stop the case being investigated by the anti-corruption commission.
This verdict was read out in the trial for the verdict on the alleged violation which was held at the ACLC KPK building, Jalan Rasuna Said, South Jakarta after it was formulated on Thursday, May 27.

Furthermore, a member of the KPK Supervisory Board said there were a number of things that weighed on Stepanus so that he was dishonorably dismissed. In addition to being deemed to have abused his trust, he has also enjoyed money from the proceeds of receiving bribes of Rp. 1.6 billion.
