Kaltara Governor Meets Student and Sulsel Police Chief, Demands that Perpetrators of Violence against Kaltara Student be Immediately Arrested
MAKASSAR - On the sidelines of his work agenda in Makassar City, the Governor of North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Zainal A. Paliwang, took the time to visit a student from Kaltara who was allegedly a victim of kidnapping and sexual violence in Makassar, South Sulawesi (Sulsel), some time ago.
The visit was carried out at the girls' dormitory where the victim lived. Accompanied by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tamalate Police, Polrestabes Makassar on Thursday (15/5/2026) evening.
Zainal came to provide moral support as well as to ensure that the victim's condition was given attention and assistance.
During the meeting, Zainal emphasized the importance of maintaining the psychological condition of the victim so that the recovery process runs calmly and does not add to the mental burden experienced by the victim.
"I invite the public, including the media, to respect the victim's privacy and not disseminate information that can affect the victim's psychological condition," said Zainal.
"The most important thing at this time is how the victims get assistance and support for recovery," he continued.
After meeting the victim and the student from Kaltara in Makassar, Zainal also met with the South Sulawesi Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro, to ask that the case be handled seriously and the perpetrators be arrested immediately.
According to him, the quick action of law enforcement officers is important to provide a sense of security for victims and their families.
"We hope that the perpetrators will be immediately secured so that the legal process can run and the victims feel protected," he said.
Zainal emphasized that the Kaltara Provincial Government would continue to pay attention to the condition of students from the region who are studying outside the region, including ensuring that assistance to the victims runs well.
"Hopefully the victim will recover soon and be able to return to his activities well," he concluded.
