Putin: Russia Wants to Create a Technology Alliance with Other Countries

JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow wants to create and expand mutually beneficial technological alliances with other countries despite Western sanctions and external pressure.

Speaking at the 10th anniversary congress of the Russian Machine-Building Union in Moscow, Putin said combining the intellectual potential and other resources of various countries based on mutual respect for interests "will open additional opportunities".

"We intend to create and expand mutually beneficial alliances with other countries and support initiatives from foreign partners that use Russian technology engines, equipment, and platforms," Putin said, quoted by ANTARA from Sputnik, Friday, May 15.

Putin said Russia's machine-building industry could strengthen its position in domestic and foreign markets, despite sanctions and the break in relations with some foreign partners.

According to Putin, Russian manufacturing production in 2025 increased by 25 percent compared to the pre-sanctions level in 2021, while overall industrial production increased by 12 percent over the same period.

"And more broadly, industrial production in Russia in 2025 is 12 percent higher than in 2021. I would like to say that despite all the difficulties of the past few years, Russian machine builders have been operating in challenging conditions, including the rupture of relations with some foreign partners and external pressure from unfriendly countries," he explained.

However, Putin continued, in the current state, Russian companies, managers, and employees have shown flexibility and the ability to implement non-conventional approaches.

Putin said the challenges facing Russia highlighted the importance of producing important products independently and maintaining domestic technological infrastructure.

"Once again, I would like to emphasize while strengthening our technological sovereignty. We will not isolate ourselves, on the contrary, we intend to create and expand mutually beneficial alliances with other countries," he said.

He also called for studying the experience of domestic and foreign technologies to help introduce the best innovations into the Russian industry.
