Eating with Xi in China, Trump was served lobster, Peking duck to tiramisu
JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump was treated to a sumptuous meal during a dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, Thursday, May 14.
The Telegraph reported that the menu for the state banquet included lobster with tomato soup, crispy beef ribs, Beijing roast duck (peking duck), salmon cooked slowly in mustard sauce, and fried pork bakpao.
For dessert, the US Presidential entourage will be served cakes in the shape of trumpet shells, tiramisu, and fruit ice cream.
Meanwhile, in the photo documentation, tables are neatly arranged with gold-plated silver tableware, including forks, knives, and chopsticks, as well as tall wine glasses.
Before the dinner, Trump joked about the current state of Chinese cuisine in the US and the cultural assimilation of the two countries.
"Just like many Chinese now love basketball and blue jeans, Chinese restaurants in America today number more than the five largest fast food chains in the United States, if you combine them all," Trump joked.
On his last visit to China almost a decade ago, Trump was served boiled vegetables in a soup and boiled beef with tomatoes.
