Jaecoo Claims SHS Technology Promises Cost Savings of up to IDR 16 Million per Year
JAKARTA - The trend of energy-efficient vehicles is increasingly sought after by consumers, especially for those who want cost efficiency without sacrificing performance. Seeing this need, Jaecoo presents the Super Hybrid System (SHS) technology through the J7 SHS-P and J8 SHS-P ARDIS models which are claimed to be able to significantly reduce vehicle usage costs.
Through this hybrid technology, Jaecoo said his customers can enjoy energy costs starting at Rp5 million per year. In fact, the savings offered are claimed to be able to reach Rp16 million per year compared to conventional SUVs in a similar class.
The claim was obtained from a simulation of vehicle use for daily activities with EV mode on weekdays and gasoline-fueled hybrid mode during weekend trips. The calculation uses the assumption of RON 92 gasoline price of Rp. 12,300 per liter and electricity tariff of Rp. 1,699 per kWh.
The Jaecoo J7 SHS-P is the model with the lowest estimated energy cost, which is around IDR 5.8 million per year. This SUV is equipped with an electric motor efficiency of 5.46 km/kWh and fuel consumption of up to 35 km/liter. With a fully charged battery and fuel tank, the car is claimed to be able to travel up to 1,377 km.
On the other hand, the Jaecoo J8 SHS-P ARDIS offers an annual energy cost in the range of Rp7 million. This model has an electric motor efficiency of 5.22 km/kWh and a fuel consumption of 23.7 km/liter. Not only that, the SUV also recorded a MURI record thanks to its ability to travel up to 1,660 km in a single full battery and fuel charge.
"Jaecoo J7 SHS-P and J8 SHS-P ARDIS are designed to provide energy efficiency as well as performance for long-distance travel. Through SHS technology, these two models offer more efficient usage costs with hybrid driving flexibility," said Business Unit Director Jaecoo Indonesia Jim Ma, quoted from official statements, Thursday, May 14.
Technically, both models rely on fifth-generation hybrid technology with a thermal efficiency of 44.5 percent. The system is designed to optimize the work of the gasoline engine and electric motor simultaneously to remain efficient in various travel conditions.
The Jaecoo J7 SHS-P uses a 1.5T engine combined with a 1-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). Meanwhile, the J8 SHS-P ARDIS comes with a 1.5 TGDI engine and a 3-speed DHT transmission to provide a more responsive performance character.
The ability of SHS Jaecoo technology has also been proven through involvement in the Indonesia Rally Raid Adventure (IRRA) 2025 event to the Rinjani100 international ultra trail event.
In terms of services, Jaecoo currently operates 35 dealers in Indonesia and targets expansion to 80 dealers by the end of 2026. This step is being taken to expand access to services and strengthen the vehicle ownership experience for consumers in the country.
