Prabowo Forms a Task Force to Accelerate Deregulation, Accelerate Licensing
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi to prepare the formation of a task force (satgas) to accelerate deregulation.
According to President Prabowo, the task force is needed to simplify various regulations and business licenses that have been considered too layered.
"Mensesneg, I ask that experts be gathered, create a special task force to accelerate deregulation. Simplify, don't complicate," said Prabowo in the Submission of Administrative Fines and Forest Area Land at the Attorney General's Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 13, reported by ANTARA.
President Prabowo said that until now he had often received complaints from business actors who wanted to invest capital in Indonesia but had to wait for the licensing process for up to two years.
The President then compared this condition with a number of neighboring countries in Southeast Asia which were able to issue business permits in just two weeks.
"If they (neighboring countries) can issue permits in two weeks, why do we have two years? Simplify regulations," he said.
Prabowo emphasized that simplification of regulations needed to be carried out immediately because regulations that were too complicated could open the door to corruption.
In addition, the deregulation step is also considered important to maintain the confidence of investors who want to invest and run businesses in Indonesia.
"Entrepreneurs must be helped, must be supported. The naughty ones, we will discipline. But the good ones, those who really want to work, yes, they must be helped," added the President.
