Prabowo Spray Flowers Credit for Poor People 24 Percent: Is This a Pancasila State or Not?

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the high interest rates on supermicro loans charged to small people. In his speech at the Attorney General's Office, Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Prabowo questioned the logic of the state when poor families actually pay higher interest rates than large entrepreneurs.

"Rich people can get 9 percent interest, poor people 24 percent. Is this a Pancasila country or not?" said Prabowo.

He said the problem arose in the Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) Mekaar program which provides small loans for pre-prosperous families.

Prabowo admitted that he had called the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Economy, and the Minister of Finance to decide on the reduction of credit interest.

"My political decision has been made. The flowers must be below 9 percent," he said.

During the meeting, Danantara was said to have expressed his readiness to lower the interest rate to around 8 percent.

According to Prabowo, the economic system should not continue to burden the weakest groups. The government, must dare to correct the biased policy.

He emphasized that the state is not enough to just talk about social justice in slogans, but must be seen in concrete policies.

"Our benchmark is Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. Not just a slogan," said Prabowo.
