Prabowo alludes to "young wife" when talking about Rp39 trillion unclaimed account
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto revealed that there were around Rp39 trillion in inactive account funds that were said to be related to money from crime and had not been taken by the owner for years.
In his speech at the Attorney General's Office, Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Prabowo even made a sarcastic comment about the account owner who was allegedly dead or fled abroad.
"The corrupt or criminals may have fled Indonesia or died. The money is left in accounts that are not clear," said Prabowo.
He then continued in a satirical tone.
"Maybe he has many young wives or pets, so his heirs don't know he has money in the bank," he said.
According to Prabowo, funds that have not been managed and claimed for years after being announced many times should be taken by the state for the benefit of the people.
"If it has been so many years that it has not been taken care of and it has been announced that no one has come, then it has been moved for the people," he said.
Prabowo said the government estimated that next month there would be an additional Rp. 49 trillion that would enter the country, a combination of the PKH Task Force and the inactive account fund.
He emphasized that the money must be returned for the public interest, including the repair of schools and health centers.
