DJP Banten Names 5 Suspects in Tax Evasion of IDR 580 Billion

JAKARTA - The Banten Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (Kanwil DJP) has named five people as suspects in a case of alleged tax crimes involving three steel companies, with a total state loss estimated at Rp580 billion.

Head of the Banten DJP Regional Office, Aim Nursalim Saleh, stated that the suspects had the initials RS, CX, HG, GM, and LCH.

"The determination of the suspect was made based on at least two valid evidence after the PNS (PPNS) investigation team coordinated with the Banten High Prosecutor's Office and the PPNS Korwas of the Metro Jaya Police," said Aim as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 13.

He detailed that the suspects consisted of one Indonesian citizen (WNI) and four foreign nationals (WNA). Currently, the DJP has cooperated with the immigration office to prevent the five from going abroad.

This case began with financial intelligence information regarding transactions that did not reflect the taxpayer's profile during the period from January 2016 to December 2019.

The three companies involved are PT Putra Steel Indonesia (PSI) and PT Putra Steel Merdeka (PSM) which are located in the Millennium Industrial Estate, Tangerang, and PT BPN which is located in the Serang area industrial estate.

Aim explained that the modus operandi used by the suspects was to deliver a PPN Period Notification Letter (SPT) whose content was not correct or incomplete.

In addition, they sell taxable goods (BKP) without collecting VAT and use another party's account (nominee) to accommodate the sales results.

"The company's management did not make any efforts to correct the financial statements even though they knew that the data did not correspond to the actual situation. This act was also repeated to obtain personal benefits," he said.

During the investigation process, the PPNS team conducted a search at the factory location on February 5, 2026, which was also attended directly by the Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa and the Director General of Taxes.

From the search, officers seized a number of documents, digital evidence, and asked for information from the employees.

Until now, taxpayers have only paid state income losses of Rp. 45.2 billion out of a total potential loss of Rp. 580 billion.

"We ask the suspects to be cooperative and immediately pay off the state's losses. The expert team will later recalculate the value of the losses accurately based on the proportion of the burden of receiving benefits from each suspect," concluded Aim.
