Harley-Davidson is ready to revive the Sportster 883 with a price of around Rp. 175 million

JAKARTA - Harley-Davidson is rumored to be preparing a big move with the return of the Sportster 883 in 2027. The legendary motorcycle was previously discontinued since 2022 because it was considered no longer economical to be updated to meet the latest emission regulations.

The return of the Sportster 883 has been in the spotlight because this model is considered to more represent the classic Sportster character compared to the Sportster S which uses the Revolution Max 1250 engine. Although the modern engine offers higher performance, some Harley-Davidson fans assess that the sensation has not fully described the old Sportster DNA.

Launching from Visordown, Wednesday, May 13, this new model will still retain the main characteristics that fans have loved so far, namely the air-cooled V-Twin engine. Harley-Davidson is also said to still use the 883cc pushrod V-twin engine platform as used on the Iron 883.

Another factor that makes this motorcycle even more attractive is the price tag. The latest Sportster 883 is said to be potentially marketed at prices starting below US$10,000 or around Rp. 175 million. If the news is true, this motorcycle could be one of the Harley-Davidson with a more affordable price and has the potential to attract new consumers as well as old fans back to the showroom.

Not only about the engine and price, the customization aspect is also believed to remain the main selling point. Sportster has long been known as one of Harley-Davidson's lines that can be modified easily according to the owner's character. Therefore, the latest model is expected to maintain its simple design, classic look, and customization flexibility that is its identity.

This motorcycle is said to be officially introduced in 2027, while more complete details are expected to be revealed by the end of 2026. Although still in the early stages of development, Harley-Davidson's direction is quite clear, namely reviving the Sportster 883 with an approach that is closer to classic cruiser motorcycle fans.
