Rosan Visits the New Economic Area in the Pantura Giant Sea Wall Project

JAKARTA - The giant sea wall project on the North Coast of Java is not only prepared as a defense against rob. The government has started to target the area as a new economic and investment center.

Minister of Investment and Industrialization Rosan Roeslani said the government was refining the master plan of the project with the Pantura Java Authority Management Agency.

According to Rosan, the construction of the giant sea wall will not stop at the construction of the sea embankment alone.

"Not only is the giant sea wall built, but also points to increase the economy, increase investment, and also have a positive impact on the economy," said Rosan at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 12.

He said the government was still studying the points of economic development that would be built along the project.

Rosan said the new area would not only grow in Jakarta, but also other areas that are included in the giant sea wall.

"This can create a new economic point not only in Jakarta, but also in the place where this giant sea wall will be built," he said.

The government is currently still calculating the development model of the area and refining the master plan of the project.

On the other hand, Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Didit Herdiawan Ashaf reminded that the Pantura area was filled with small-scale community economic activities, ranging from fishermen, farmers to farmers.

Therefore, the government said that the giant sea wall project must be built simultaneously with social and economic mitigation for coastal communities.
