DKI Provincial Government Investigates Alleged Illegal Parking in Blok M, Stafsus Pramono: We Do Not Tolerate
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has begun to investigate alleged illegal parking practices managed by parking operators in the Blok M area, South Jakarta. The investigation was carried out after the parking location was sealed by the DKI Transportation Service based on the results of the Special Committee (Pansus) for Parking Management of the DKI Jakarta DPRD.
Deputy Special Staff Coordinator for the Governor of DKI Jakarta Yustinus Prastowo said that the illegal status of parking management was still in the process of deepening. Therefore, the Provincial Government has not drawn a final conclusion regarding the alleged violations.
"Regarding the parking that is suspected of being illegal, I said it was suspected because this is still in the process of the Pansus. So we fully support the efforts of the DPRD Pansus and if you see friends, Dishub, Satpol PP, also go down to the field," said Prastowo at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, May 12.
According to him, the Provincial Government immediately carried out internal coordination after the findings came to light. The Transportation Service and the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) are currently tracing the licensing aspects to compliance with the operator's parking tax payment.
Prastowo said that further investigation was needed to ensure the parking management scheme taking place at the location, including ensuring whether the permit was indeed not there or was still in the process of being managed.
"So we will study this first, how the scheme is, the licensing aspect and compliance with parking tax payments," he said.
The findings of this alleged illegal parking have come under scrutiny because the location is said to have been operating since 2023. However, the DKI Provincial Government admitted that it was still examining all documents and management mechanisms before taking further steps.
"So this is what we are investigating, whether it is confirmed that there is no permit or it is in the process, that is what we are investigating together. Later we will give an update and we will make sure that everything is transparent," said Prastowo.
He emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government would not tolerate illegal parking activities. However, on the other hand, the government also wants to ensure that the parking system in Jakarta is improved so that it is more organized and transparent.
"Well, we are checking internally, later if there is an update, of course we will convey it to all colleagues. In principle, the Provincial Government certainly does not tolerate anything related to illegal parking activities," he said.
Previously, the operations of the Best Parking parking operator in the Blok M area, South Jakarta were sealed by the DKI Dishub. The operator is suspected of managing parking without a permit since 2023.
Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Parking Management Committee Jupiter said the sealing was carried out after his party found alleged violations in the management of parking in the area.
"Based on the findings of the Subcommittee, the Best Parking parking operator is suspected of running a parking management without having a permit since 2023," said Jupiter in Blok M, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Monday, May 11.
Not only about permits, the Special Commission also found allegations of tax evasion which were considered potentially damaging to regional finances. The allegation arose from the management of parking which continued to run even though it was said to have no official permit basis.
"We ask all parties concerned, including supervisory agencies and law enforcement officers, to follow up on these findings seriously and transparently," he said.
The committee estimates that the potential parking revenue in the Blok M Square area could reach more than IDR 100 million per day. This value is considered to indicate the potential for leakage of regional revenue if parking supervision is not carried out strictly.
Apart from the parking issue, the Blok M Square building management is also said to have not paid the Land and Building Tax (PBB) obligation for approximately five years.
"This is certainly a serious concern because tax obligations are a responsibility that must be fulfilled by every business actor," said Jupiter.
He assessed that the case showed the weakness of supervision in parking management in Jakarta. In fact, the DKI DPRD had previously passed a recommendation for parking system reform through a plenary meeting in November 2025.
