Rucah Fish Catch in Penajam East Kalimantan Can Meet Flour Plant Raw Materials

JAKARTA - The catch of non-commercial fish or non-consumption fish in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, reaches 200 tons per year which is considered to be able to meet the raw materials for fish flour processing plants and animal feed, if investors build plants in the local regency.

"The raw materials for fish flour and feed for poultry and fish are estimated to be no less," said Head of the North Penajam Paser Regency Fisheries Service Andi Trasodiharto, Tuesday, when asked about the potential for marine fisheries in Penajam,

It is recorded that around 150 fishing boats, he continued, catch non-consumption fish with a production of around 200 tons per year.

"Catching skipjack fish in North Penajam Paser Regency opens up opportunities for investors to build fish flour factories, he said again, as well as poultry feed and fish feed factories," he said.

The catch of non-consumptive fish by fishermen in North Penajam Paser Regency is sold to other areas that have fish flour processing plants as well as feed for poultry and fish.

"Until now, the fish caught by fishermen are dried, then sold to other areas as fish flour or animal feed," he said.

The North Penajam Paser Regency Government is trying to communicate with investors to build fish flour and fish feed factories for poultry and farmed fish in North Penajam Paser Regency.

"The factory can grow the economy of fishermen and open up employment opportunities, so that the economic circulation in the community moves," said Andi Trasodiharto.
