PBFI Bulungan Focus on Preparing the Regeneration of Weightlifting Athletes
TANJUNG SELOR - The Indonesian Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (PBFI) Bulungan Regency has prepared a sustainable weightlifting sports training program with a focus on the regeneration of young athletes in Bulungan Regency.
The Chairman of the PBFI Bulungan, Mulyono, said that the program was designed to build a more targeted sports achievement coaching system while increasing the interest of young people in this weightlifting sport.
"We want the training of athletes to be carried out continuously, starting from school age until they are ready to participate in championships," said Mulyono, Monday (11/5/2026).
He explained, the work program in the field of achievements and training, PBFI Bulungan will socialize this bodybuilding sport to high school and equivalent vocational schools in Bulungan Regency.
"Activities include education on the benefits of weightlifting, healthy lifestyles, demonstrations of safe basic techniques, to motivation from senior athletes and former athletes," explained Mulyono.
In addition to socialization, PBFI Bulungan also prepares a talent search program or talent scouting to recruit potential athletes. The selection is carried out through basic strength tests, body coordination, flexibility, endurance, to mental observation of the discipline of prospective athletes.
"We want to have a database of potential athletes who can later be trained at the regional and provincial levels," he said.
In the youth athlete training program, PBFI Bulungan also plans to partner with local fitness or gyms to help subsidize the cost of membership for selected young athletes.
"The training program will be carried out regularly and scheduled with basic technical assistance to advanced and periodic evaluation of athlete development," he added.
Mulyono said, PBFI Bulungan will also involve senior athletes and former athletes as training mentors, motivators, and mental companions for young athletes. The involvement of senior athletes is an important part of building the regeneration of weightlifting sports in Bulungan Regency.
"We want there to be synergy between young, senior, and former athletes so that coaching goes better," he said.
In addition to focusing on training, PBFI Bulungan also prepares a health and nutrition education program for athletes through cooperation with related services. The materials provided include adolescent athlete nutrition, prevention of sports injuries, recovery of body condition, to the dangers of using prohibited substances or doping.
"To measure the progress of athletes, PBFI will also hold internal competitions, inter-school championships, and tryouts as preparation for regional championships," he concluded.
